Welcome to "Steam on the Web" the website which attempts to bring the sight and sounds of preserved steam locomotives to the internet.

It is my intention to update the site as events unfold throughout the year, so please feel free to visit on a regular basis.

Please click on the links to the left of the screen to navigate the site.

Clicking on the pictures will result in the video being played. In order to save precious bandwidth I would be grateful if you would download each video once only. This is achieved by right clicking on the picture and selecting "Save Target as" to save the files to your hard disk.

NB The files require Windows Media Player, Realplayer or a package such as IrfanView. Apologies to those who use non-Microsoft operating systems.

Please remember that the video quality is compromised by heavy compression. For the best effect the clips should be played on a high screen resolution with plenty of sound!

Important: several large videos and some of the older videos are resident on "You Tube". For the best effect ensure the picture frame is optimised by viewing at 'original size' by clicking on the box I have marked with an arrow in the example frame below. Unfortunately the default setting is not suitable for the format of video clip that I produce and is highly pixellated.

Please remember that the video quality is compromised by heavy compression. For the best effect the clips should be played on a high screen resolution with plenty of sound!

Any feedback is welcome.
